CMC S23 Spider Lift Hire
Need to work at height in a tight or awkward space? The CMC S23 is a tracked spider lift (spider cherry picker) available for hire across Kent and the South East. With a maximum working height of 23m and one of the longest outreaches in its class, it’s among the most compact lifts of its size on the market – reaching places a standard cherry picker simply can’t. That makes it ideal for tree surgery, building maintenance, signage, roofing and access jobs where space and ground conditions are limited.
Because it’s tracked rather than wheeled, the S23 can navigate soft ground, gravel, slopes and narrow gateways, and its outriggers give a stable, level platform once you’re set up. Its double-pantograph design with articulated arms and jib delivers excellent up-and-over reach, while built-in safety systems – including automatic stabilisation and collision prevention – help keep every job running smoothly. Best of all, it’s fully towable under 3.5 tonnes on the purpose-built trailer included in your hire fee, so there’s no need for an HGV licence or special transport to get it to site.
Ideal for
- Tree surgery and arborist work
- Roofing, guttering and building maintenance
- Signage, lighting and installation work at height
- Tight-access and confined sites where larger machines won’t fit

FAQs
Operating a spider lift is a MEWP (mobile elevating work platform) task, so anyone using the controls should hold a current IPAF ticket for a 1b (static boom) machine. On commercial sites, the principal contractor will usually expect to see it. It isn’t a legal “licence” as such, but training is a legal duty under the Health & Safety at Work Act. If you’re not certified, get in touch and we’ll talk through your options.
The CMC S23 runs on non-marking rubber tracks and spreads its weight low to the ground, so it’s gentle on most surfaces. On soft turf or delicate finishes like resin, tiles or block paving, we’d recommend track mats or spreader boards under the outriggers. Just let us know the surface when you book and we’ll advise.
Its compact stowed width lets it pass through narrow gateways and confined entry points, which makes it a good fit for tight-access and enclosed spaces where larger machines won’t go. If you’re unsure it’ll fit, send us the narrowest measurement and we’ll confirm before it leaves the yard.
Yes. No HGV licence or special transport is needed. At 2,880kg the CMC S23 is fully towable under 3.5 tonnes on the purpose-built trailer included in your hire fee, so it goes wherever a standard vehicle can tow.
Hire is £300 + VAT (£360 inc. VAT) for one day, or £1,200 + VAT (£1,440 inc. VAT) for five days, which works out cheaper per day than booking five single days. The purpose-built towing trailer is included in the hire fee. For a longer hire or to check availability, request a quote or get in touch with the team.
